Mackie85 - Princess Daphne

This is the colored version of a picture that I came across a while ago while I was looking for more linearts to color.

In case you don’t know who this is, her name is “Princess Daphne” and she appears in the video game (By Don Bluth) called “Dragon’s Lair”.  Don Bluth, some of you might know, is the animator who was responsible for such wonderful films as “An American Tale”, “The Land Before Time”, “The Secret of NIHM” and “Titan A.E.”

Here’s the original lineart:  Princess Daphne Pin-up Linework
Coloring Daphne wasn’t too tricky, although I admit that I borrowed a little as far as the color pallet goes from a couple of sources.  First from the original screen caps from the game as well as some from ’s design.

Admittedly I know that in my version there isn’t the glittering sheer in my own version of Daphne but given that there were no lines for it, I decided to basically make this, or at least chalk it up to her wearing the dress from Dragon’s Lair 2 which didn’t have the glittering sheer fabric to it.

As far as the background goes, I admit that I borrowed the inspiration for it from Mackie85’s red, orange and yellow color scheme but I added a little more to it such as the bubble that imprisons the princess as well as dashes of purple to give the background some contrast.  Hope all of you like this picture as much as I did in coloring it (aside from the times when Photoshop crashed on me).
