Ghostbusters fan characters Ivy and Xaphon

What we have here is a small birthday gift fan art drawn by @stickymonart I had done for my friend @ivalinajadenewandimproved who has been my friend for quite a while and she has told me that she’s had a lot of rotten birthdays and so this year I felt that she needed something to help her smile.

For a while she told me about a Ghostbusters fan character that she designed named “Ivy”.  At first, when she told me about Ivy she was simply a graduate student working under Dr. Egon Spengler.  But after a while I came up with the idea of adding a supernatural edge to Ivy, namely making her a succubus.  I think it was because I was partially inspired by “Viper GTS” or it could have been “World of Warcraft” but I always liked the idea of Ivy being able to sprout wings, a tail and horns and being able to do more than just assist Egon in the lab.

Her succubus outfit was something I came up with, once again slightly inspired by the likes of Lady Death, Vampirella and so on.  Even though I’ve always felt that women in fantasy need better armor and such, but then again, she’s a succubus so I think I can get a pass on that.  In addition to that I wanted her to have a collar because part of Ivy’s backstory is that she’s bound to Egon Spengler and his family so the collar is both practical and a symbolic symbol of her servitude to the Spengler family.

My friend had done several drawings of Ivy over time but I also added a few sketches of my own and finally, when her birthday rolled around, I decided to have @stickymonart fully render the concept of Ivy and her succubus form Xaphon, which is the name of an angel who “fires the fires of hell”.  And I’m certainly glad that she loved the concept and it made me even happier to know that she loved it when it was drawn up.  The next step was to color it.

The background, I borrowed inspiration from Dan Schoening who did a lot of artwork in which the characters were against a background but were standing on a platform that had the Ghostbusters logo on it.  So I used that and went from there on the background.

So, there you have it everyone.  And I say it again, Happy Birthday, @ivalinajadenewandimproved
