Zet13 - Steven Universe Fan Character - Aventurine
Here is the latest piece that I had commissioned of the wonderful Zet13. He doesn’t open commissions that much so when he does, it’s often best just to jump in and get a spot because they fill up pretty damn quick. For this particular lineart commission, I asked him to draw up a fan character that I designed with the help of clock-heart.
With regards to Aventurine’s overall design, I was first inspired by a drawing that was done by susandrawsthings of what I could call a superhero type of jumpsuit. After seeing the patterns, I toyed with it and simplified it into the pattern you see here. Basically similar to what the Homeworld Gems have where their “Clothes” look more like skin tight outfits. I often thought that if Aventurine where to come into contact with Steven and the Crystal Gems she would be encouraged to “wear human clothes” and she would try and find it so frivolous.
When I designed Aventurine I wanted to go with the same theme that is done for the other gems in the series where their body is basically a reflection based on the colors of their gems. Such as Amethyst is purplish, Pearl is white, Garnet is a russet sort of color, and so on. For Aventurine because there are different shades of green and flecks of gold to her I decided to use that. The varying shades of green for her skin, hair and body outfit, but the gold I reserved for the eyes.
As for her Gem weapon, that was something that was encouraged to me by clock-heart who advised that if I was going to choose a sword I should pick something that isn’t seen very much in popular fiction. Most use broadswords, sabers, katana, straight blades, etc. So, I went with the obscure Kampilan, which is a sword featured in Philippine martial arts. And just like Rose Quartz’ sword, I went with choosing varying shades of green for the blade, the guard, handle and so on.
After that it was a task of rendering a background and I wanted to do something space related. And once again it was thanks to clock-heart who showed me the best way to do this that I was able to create the space behind her.
And now here’s the character sheet for her:
Name: Aventurine
Weapon: Sword (Kampilan)
Personality: The Protector
Merits: Industrious, loyal, compassionate, caring, patient, reliable and obedient.
Gray traits: Flirty and pacifist
Flaws: Over-zealous, worry-wart, tactless, self-deprecating, overly-sensitive, and stubborn.
History: Aventurine was once an Overseer of Kindergarten. Her job was to essentially keep watch over the operations of the Kindergartens to make sure they go smoothly in the creation of new gems and to protect it from outside forces. In her first few dozen assignments, the Kindergartens were on uninhabited worlds but then came the assignment on Terseron: a world that had primitive peoples living on it. Aventurine knew what Kindergartens did to a planet. Often she tried to justify what the Gems were doing was for the greater good especially since the Kindergartens she oversaw were on uninhabited worlds. But when she was ordered to start the Kindergarten on Terseron, she followed her orders and watched the planet die as a result.
After this assignment was completed and the planet was no longer needed, Aventurine was assigned to another world. All the while the guilt of what she had seen started to eat away at her. So much so that she decided to do something that she once again tried to justify the ends: she would destroy the Kindergarten.
When a new one was established on a new world, Aventurine set explosives and destroyed the facility and vanished into space. Alone and with no home, Aventurine wandered the cosmos until now.

Zet13 - Jedi Master Elsa
You could say that this is a repeat of what nippy13 did for me but it’s such a good and fun idea that I just couldn’t resist, I wanted to see what this idea would look like when done by another artist. And Zet13 was having a “Moving Commission Sale”. Essentially, he was moving across country and needed some money to help out. Of course, this was a couple weeks back, about a week before I ran into my own snag as far as income sources. But all that aside, when he was done, I couldn’t wait to get to coloring it.
Here’s the original in case you want to see it: Jedi Master Elsa Lineart
In case you don’t know the background of the idea, here’s how it went:
When I was attending Anime L.A., I met a cosplayer who had done a rather interesting mash-up. The mash-up was Disney and Star Wars and she was doing Elsa as a “Slave Leia”.
I saw it and liked it but then I thought that as titillating as it was, I figured that Elsa wouldn’t be a slave at all. So then I thought it over about the different aspects and professions in the Star Wars universe that would fit her. And given her abilities, I decided that Elsa should be a Jedi.
And the first I did was with Nippy13 and here’s how that one turned out: Nippy13 Jedi Master Elsa
And now for some Star Wars themed lyrics of “Let it Go”. Courtesy of Flashfan123
“Let it go, let it go
The force is strong with me
Let it go, let it go
I will make the galaxy free!
I don’t care, what the Sith will say
Let the storm rage on,
The dark side never bothered me anyway!”

Zet13 - Bookshelf Commission Sale - Elena
Here we have a colored version of Elena that Zet13 did as part of his “Bookshelf Commission Sale”.
The setup of the sale was that Zet took a picture of a set of books on his bookshelf which ranged from different manga, a few art books, graphic novels and so on. The idea behind it that we, the commissioners, would look through the titles and come up with a commission for him to do of a character or characters from those books. A rather clever idea in my opinion because it required a certain level of esoteric knowledge on part of us. As for me, I saw that he had an art book for Street Fighter and I asked him if Elena was in it. My reason was because Elena was in my commission idea list and I already had asked him to do Cammy earlier this year. Again, my reasoning is that there are characters in Street Fighter that are so underplayed or aren’t as noticed because of the ones that have a longer standing tenure with the game series, such as Chun-Li, who (and let’s be honest about this) is pretty much Capcom’s cover girl. So, I say let’s give the other girls a shot.
Besides, I’ve come to like Elena’s style of fighting because she uses her legs more than anything else. Most fighters in the game seem to rely more on their fists and the legs become secondary. Some of you might know this but for those of you who don’t: the reason why Elena uses her legs more is because of a style of Brazillian Martial arts that combines dance, acrobatics and music. And if any of you have seen the legs that Elena has in the game, she is rather built for it.
The task of coloring Elena became only tricky when it came to her bangles, and as my friend Inkonherlips had once remarked, she had the widest color pallet range of any of the characters in the street fighter games thanks to the different colored bangles that she had.
The next challenge was the background. I went through the different stage backgrounds in the game and found Elena’s stage and used that as a basis and rendered it as best as I could in my own style. Such as the wooden bridge that she’s sitting on and the African landscape and the snow-capped mountain in the far distance. I’d like to think that I did well, especially for someone who doesn’t do backgrounds that much.

Zet13 - Lacey (Shadows) Is Still Being Racy
This is the colored version of Lacey Shadows that was drawn by Zet13 that I commissioned of him. It was a while ago when he was running what was called a “Toon Commission sale”. The premise of which is that anyone wanting to commission him could only choose characters from “western animations”, so anime, video games and live action was out. And given how lengthy my own list of ideas was, I knew that I had something in there that would fit the bill and here it was: Lacey Shadows from “The Modifyers” or rather “The Modifuckers” as was popularized by Zone-archives.
After the drawing was done, I did ask Zet to let me know which clothing items were which becuase it was a little tricky to tell what was what in the lineart. And thanks to him, he sent me a version of the picture where the items were labeled.
With a guide in mind, I went to coloring her immediately. With this picture I did a couple of experiments in terms of the coloring process, namely with the clothes, underneath each clothing item I added a unique shadow layer for that one item at a layer opacity level of 25% and filled it with black. This in turn gave it a transparent shadow appearance but when combined with other shadow layers that had a similar opacity setting it gave that look of shadow layering where things get darker when shadows are laying on top of other shadows.
For the background, I had to refer to both the original and the Zone-archives version for inspiration. And admittedly I borrowed a design from one of them. 1000 points to whoever can figure out which scene. But the idea is that I needed it to have that “fabulous” or “swingin’ sixties” look to it and this was the best that could be done given the abilities I have.
Anyway, everyone, hope you like this one.

Zet13 - Cammy - Still Wanna Fight?
Here we have a colored version of a lineart of Cammy done by Zet13.
What happened was that he was having a commission sale. The sale itself had a theme of “retro video games”. Essentially, you had to pick a character from a video game that was pre-1998. Initially, my first two ideas were Samus Aran and Cammy. I was in a hurry to think of ideas since I know how quickly the commission slots for Zet13 fill up. But since I couldn’t decide between Samus and Cammy, I sent the options to Zet13 and asked him to decide between the two. And he said that he wanted to choose Cammy. I knwo that there are some out there who would ask, “Why didn’t you pick Chun-Li?” My answer to that is that EVERYONE and their dog and cat has done artwork of Chun-Li. Let’s face it, the woman is pretty much Sega’s icon, almost beating out Sonic the Hedgehog.
After he was done with the lineart, I immediately went to coloring her. What’s refreshing about this particular lineart is the fact that I was coloring a woman who was athletically toned. Such as the muscles in the arms, the six pack and so on.
In terms of a background, I had first thought of just coloring in a brick wall to give the idea of an alleyway for a street fight. Then I went to look for pictures of the “Cammy Stage” from the original Street Fighter games and found them to be a lot like the English and Scottish castles. So I thought of rendering something like that, but then I stopped myself and decided to past in a copy of the image of Cammy’s Stage as a nod to the game itself. I know that sounds a bit lazy but it seems to be rather apt and appropriate.

Zet13 - Rose Tyler is a VERY bad wolf
This is a colored version of “Rose Tyler” that I had commissioned to zet13 or Zet13 on Hentai Foundry.
Needless to say, I was excited when I heard that Zet13 was back doing commissions because I had so many fun ideas for him to do. And this was one of them. Though my reason for picking this one was because I was talking with my friend Killerchibis and we decided that we would both color one. I would do this my own way and she would do it her own way and then we’d see how we did when we were finished. In our discussion we came up with the idea for Rose Tyler that she would be lying down on the 10th Doctor’s Coat and would be holding the Sonic Screwdriver in a very suggestive way (Oh look, it’s got three settings!). So after we came up with the idea it was a matter of waiting for Zet13.
In coloring this I decided that the Tardis needed to be in the background so I just found a picture of the Tardis at the appropriate angle, pasted into the picture and painted over it matching the colors and shades as best as I could. But when I had come to the end there was one more touch that occurred to me that I had to throw in: “Bad Wolf”. For those of you who have seen “Doctor Who” will know what I’m talking about. But for the rest of you…ehhhh…it’d be too long of an explanation to put into here. Many thanks to Zet13 for his work.

Zet13 - Selene hates Twilight
This is the newest piece that I had Zet-M (Zet13 on Hentai Foundry) do for me. This one is pretty much in the same vein as a couple other pics that I’ve had done where I’ve pit other vampire/werewolf movies against “Twilight”. In this case, it’s Underworld, but I figured I’d go for something more direct with Selene actually using a copy of the book for target practice.
As for some who may ask “why is she naked then?” It’s a pinup folks, just go with it.
I did put a little extra effort into this one from a technical standpoint, namely putting in the stone floor and wall and making it seem like the picture was done on a full moon night. Which you can see with the pale light rays and the dark blue of the rest of the picture.
One more thing:
As for the stone pattern used for the wall that one I got from Enframed’s Stone Wall Texture:
The pattern for the floor is from Sed-rah-stock’s Stone Pattern 25.0 Note: All character(s) depicted here are 18 years of age or older

Zet13 - Lilith
This is another lineart that I had commissioned to Zet-M or Zet13 as he’s called on Hentai Foundry.
When he opened up commissions again I wanted him to do a character that I don’t think is given enough attention or fan art and that’s Lilith from “Darkstalkers”. Most of the time when it comes to characters from that game people often think of the abnormally busty Morrigan Aensland.
Also, as far as the background goes….I know it’s a bit bland and nothing but I’ve been having trouble with making a background so if anyone out there has any suggestions I’m open. And if you know of any photoshop tutorials for that, let me know.
Also, if you’re going to complain that Lilith looks underage, let me remind you that the character of Lilith was born in 1688. So I think she’s well above the age of 18.
Note: The character depicted here is of 18 years old or older. Here’s the original version: Lilith LIneart

Zet13 - Shinobu being Sexy
This is a colored version of Shinobu Lineart that I had commissioned to Zet-M.
I really have to attribute my introduction to Shinobu to Inkonherlips who had done an incredible cosplay of her once. And after seeing some of the clips of Shinobu in action I couldn’t help but like her on the spot.
So for this picture I basically wanted something simple as I had told Zet13.

Zet13 - Cheetara’s Pole Dance
This is a colored version of a Cheetara’s Dance Lineart that I had commissioned to an artist who goes by the name of Zet-M or Zet13 at Hentai Foundry.
The idea behind this picture is that it was to be a Christmas Gift to my friend ClassicCowboy. I spoke with him and it was a difficult choice to make as far as which heroine that he wanted a pin-up picture of. We discussed Wonder Woman but then that was scratched because she’s pretty much been done to death. So we decided upon someone who hasn’t been done that much. Thus we settled upon Cheetara from the new Thundercats.
