Crafts - Knitting - Commission - Gryffindor Scarf

This one is both a commission and a cosplay exchange between myself and Kay-Sama

The way this came about is that Kay-Sama and SniperPlushie had planned on doing a Harry Potter cosplay and I said that if they ever need scarfs let me know. So a little time passes by and they ask me about if I’d be willing to do that and I said that I still would be.


Stats:

Wool being used: Lamb’s Pride Worsted Wool

Needles used: U.S. Number 6 (12 Inch Long Needles)

Rows: 592

Stitches:: 55 Stitches across (Approximately 10 inches)

Total Stitches: 32,560


Colors:

M-83 Raspberry (4 Skeins)

M-14 Sunburst Gold (1 Skein)

Total: 5 Skeins

Pattern:

60 Rows Raspberry

4 Rows Gold

8 Rows Raspberry

4 Rows Gold

Repeat 7 Times.

End with 60 Rows Raspberry

Crafts - Knitting - Doctor Who Scarf

This is part of a cosplay I’m working on. A “Doctor Who” Cosplay and it will be the 4th Doctor’s Scarf. The long multi-colored scarf made famous by Tom Baker.

The information that I got on how to make this scarf was from Doctor Who Scarf a site where someone had not only managed to recreate the scarf but also some instructions on how others can do it as well. There was even an inclusion of a Scarf color pattern in which the creator of the site had shown the number of rows per color.

Now that it’s done I’ll share with you the stats of this long labor of a scarf. Here’s the pattern I used for the scarf.  Though the numbers on each section counts as “ribs”.  So a section that has 2 on it is basically 4 passes with the knitting needles.  

Scarf Stats:

Width: 11 ½ Inches Wide (63 Stitches)

Length: 18 feet – roughly

Needles used: U.S. Number 6 (12 Inch Long Needles)

Rows: 1,556 Rows (Multiply that by 63 stitches in each row that comes to 98,028 Stitches)

Cascade 220 Worsted

Red: 9436 (2 Skeins)
Purple: 2420 (2 Skeins)
Gray: 8400 (2 Skeins)
Beige: 8021 (3 Skeins)
Brown: 2453 (2 Skeins)
Yellow (Dull Gold): 4010 (1 Skein)
Yellow (Canary yellow): 7828 (1 Skein)
Green: 9429 (2 Skeins)

Total: 15 Skeins

Total length of string: 1 skein = 220 yards. 15 skeins = 3300 yards (9900 feet of yarn).
