Coloring Commission - Matthew R Humphreys - Sir Integra Hellsing

This is the colored version of a lineart that was done by MatthewRHumphreys as a commission to TedShekler.

When Ted came to me and asked me to color this particular picture, I knew that it was going to be a tough one because of the fact that the lineart itself had some small amount of dark shadings in parts of the picture.  The areas of the character that are the most dark are the ones that I mean.  But I accepted it because I’ve been a fan of the Hellsing series and I have colored pictures that feature Seras Victoria, and most recently Rip Van Winkle, so doing a picture that features Lady Integra Hellsing seems the most fitting.

The final part that proved to be the most difficult was the background. Initially, Ted wanted her to be posed on a wooden floor.  I tried several types of textures and pictures of wooden floors to match this and none of them seemed to have the right look.  So, keeping in mind the headquarters of the Hellsing organization I thought about giving it a more tiled floor look.  Thanks to a few tricks in Photoshop I had created a “fill pattern” of the tiled floor, tweaked it with perspective and here we have it.

The second part of this was that Ted wanted scraps of Integra’s clothing to be scattered on the floor.  So, going back to the original pictures of her, I used the green of her suit and tried to put about scraps of it but in the end none of that looked as good as I wanted and Ted agreed so we got rid of it.

And what you see here is the final result.

Darkslover - Sleeping Beauty Seras Victoria

This is a colored version of the Seras Victoria Sleeping Beauty lineart done by the artist Darkslover

As by the instructions of his artwork, she asked that anyone wanting to color it should send her a note.

I sent her a note and asked if I could color it.

She answered yes, provided that I follow a few guidelines.  Such as have the light come from the right of the picture, put Seras in a white nightgown, put Alucard in the darkness, and have the sigil on his glove glow.

All easy, but then there was the question of what to do with the bedsheets.  It was left up to me.  Thus I decided to make the bedsheets blue for two symbolic reasons.

The first being that blue is the color of Seras’ uniform within the Hellsing organization.

Second because blue always seems to be in some opposition to the color red.   Such as in this case, Seras’ Blue to Alucard’s Red.  There is all kinds of symbolism behind red and blue that can be found in all kinds of places if you’d be willing to do the research on it.  On top of the fact that red is a warm color while blue is more of a cool color.

All the work that I put into this one took roughly 8 cumulative hours that spanned over a week.  The easier parts were coloring Seras’ skin and her hair.  Then came the harder parts: her nightgown and the bed sheets since they both had so many folds and wrinkles in them.  So I essentially went in with a 200 to 500% magnification in photoshop and began to work at it one area at a time.

Now that it’s done all can enjoy it.

Tsteeley - Sexy Seras Victoria

This is the colored version of the Seras Lineart drawn by tsteeley

I admit that it’d be hard to top a coloring job like what she did here with Seras Colored by Tsteeley

I did two versions, the first I wanted this vampire to say something about Bella Swan and Twilight.  But I figured that not everyone would want Hellsing tainted by the mention of that trash, I did a second one that was cleared of all that.
