Coloring Commission - CallMePo - TDI Tentacle Hike

In the newest commission that was given to me by DaCommissioner and drawn by CallMePo we have Emma from "Total Drama Island" on a hike where there is a 10 million dollar prize but the hike comes with tentacles.  And by the look of things here, Emma is glad to have found them but there's the possibility of missing out on the prize.

This one did take me a long time to do because of the fact that there has been a lot of things going on in the past few weeks at home.  I don't want to go into details about it but it did slow me down as far as the artwork but I think that this piece came out a lot better than I had imagined.

When it was close to being done I knew that there was more that it could use, so I threw in some more trees into the background.  Then when it came to the issue of the sky I decided to go with making two versions of this picture, first a daytime one and then a night time one.  My reasoning for that is becuase I have done both daytime and night time versions of pictures for my commissioner.

Now that it's done, I hope that they are enjoyed as much as I did when I made them.

Coloring Commission - CallMePo/DaCommissioner - Crystal and Diedre 2

Recently, DaCommissioner had asked me to color a follow-up piece to Crimson Patroller and Crystal.  The piece was relatively the same in the overall setup but the added challenge to it all was that it was asked that I could have it done before Halloween.  Time crunch, wouldn't you say? 

The artwork was done by CallMePo.  

But it all worked out in the end.

Coloring Commission - CallMePo - DaCommissioner - Crystal and the Crimson Patroller

Here is the newest coloring commission that was given to me by DaCommissioner, and was drawn for them by CallMePo.  These these two ladies are original characters that he designed.  The one in the Raven-esque outfit is Crystal and the other one who is being held up is named "The Crimson Patroller".  And from what was told to me about the events of this picture is that it all started with trying out a new spell that had gone either horribly wrong or maybe very right, depending on how you look at it. 

Coloring these two was a challenge.  Crystal was easy by comparison, The Crimson Patroller was much more difficult.  The reason for that is because she was set at a very odd angle.  So it was actually thanks to my friend Hooksnfangs that I was able to color them properly.

Coloring Commission - DaCommissioner - CallMePo - Gogo has been Slimed

Here's the next coloring commission that I've recieved from DaCommissioner by a piece that was drawn for him by CallMePo. 

The hardest part about this one was coloring a sketch because I'm more used to solid black lines.  Then there's the slime itself.  Because coloring the shading for slime is always a hard thing to do but I think I did as best as I could with this.

Coloring Commission - CallMePo - DaCommissioner - Camp Woody Ghostbusters Slimed

Here is another piece in the “Camp Woody” series commissioned by DaCommissioner to @callmepo.  Here we have two Ghostbusters, Kylie Griffin and Melanie Ortiz.

In this picture, there was a pretty unique opportunity for me to color something that I hadn’t had the chance to do before; a comic book page.  While granted its not a true comic page, the setup is very much like it with the main splash above and a small square below.

Coloring it presented its own unique challenges.  Mainly in how you have the main splash above and how it has it’s own set of light direction and how the shadows will look versus the bottom square where the light direction and shadows would have to be mirrored in order to compensate.

The real tough part was the slime.  Initially I thought it was something else entirely so I had colored it white until I was told otherwise and made the correct adjustments accordingly.

When it was almost done, I looked at the “sparkles” from the spell “won msagro” and decided to add in a little extra to it.  Such as throwing in some sparkles that are pink and purple.  Hopefully it doesn’t do too much visual distraction since there’s so much to see in it.

Coloring Commission - DaCommissioner - CallMePo - Melanie Ortiz gets Busted Part 2

This is the sequel to a coloring commission that @dacommissioner2k15 asked of me to the piece “Melanie Ortiz Gets Busted” which was drawn by @callmepo

The setup of it is that Melanie wanted to get in on the hot tentacle/ectoplasmic action that Kylie was getting.  And now she’s gotten it and is just coming down off an incredible high. 

When the commission was made to me, there were two pictures, both of them weren’t exactly the same size, so I essentially had to color two pictures, despite them being almost the same one, except for a slight difference of “clean” and “messy”. 

It was extra work but I think that with the way it turned out, the effort was worth it.

Coloring Commission - DaCommissioner - CallMePo - Melanie Ortiz gets Busted

Here’s the colored version of a picture the @slim2k6 had made to @creemfild (CallMePo).

It’s in a similar vein to “Crisis of Infinite Kylies” where they had made a very lovely encounter with some amorous tentacles.  And wanting a piece of the action, Melanie decides to get in on it as well.  Thus the reason for her being on her knees and absolutely in love with the tentacles.

And keeping with what I had done before, I had done Melanie and the Tentacles and then went to put in the concrete and the brick wall.   Lastly, I added the blue night overlay to the picture.  However, I felt that it was obscuring the lovely colors that I was doing and so I did two versions, where the overlay was on top of all the layers and one where it was just on the background.

CallMePo - DaCommissioner2k15 - Camp W.O.O.D.Y. Bad Bet

In recent weeks, I’ve been in a financial bind, so I’ve been asking around for art commissions.  One of them was my frequent patron, DaCommissioner2k15 he said that he couldn’t commission me but after seeing this picture that was done for him by CallMePo I couldn’t resist and so I said that I would do it as a favor to him for his marvelous patronage.

From what he told me about this piece, essentially Kylie (Ghostbusters) had made a bet and had lost and her punishment was to wear Raven’s outfit.  A pretty easy piece to color, if I may say so, although the leotard was hard to do given that I was using the original Teen Titans version of Raven’s outfit and it had only two tones, black and the highlight so I had to tweak that a little in order to give the leotard some light and definition. 

As for the background, I imagined the scenario where Kylie was changing into the outfit at the GHostbusters’ station house and was having trouble getting into it.  And really doing a locker room background is pretty easy, especially if you turn on PHotoshop’s grid.

Coloring Commission - CallMePo - Slim2k6 - ogehS woN msagrO

Here is a new coloring piece that was made to me by a wonderful patron of mine: Slim2k6 a.k.a. DaCommissioner and this one is another from Camp Woody but this one involves Shego from “Kim Possible” and Desiree from ‘Danny Phantom” who had learned a small spell from Zatanna (DC comics).

In the beginning, I was asked to give it a similar background to the Eris/Ann Marie picture where it was the inside of a cabin.  And given the position of Desiree’s hand in the picture and the angle, I already knew what sort of background to set up.  That basically Shego’s back would be to the angled wall and there would be the adjacent wall to that. 

After coloring Shego and Desire, I wanted to make the effects, like the motion lines around Shego to pop a little more.  So, remembering how old school comics looked, motion lines often had a little bit of white coupled with it.  Using that, I went through and added the white to the sweat droplets and the motion lines.  But I still felt that there was more that needed to be done, such as with Desiree’s magic.  With that, I just used the color of the portal, added a little dusting of “magic sparkles” and added an outer glow to them to make them pop.

Coloring Commission - CallMePo - Slim2k6 - Camp Woody Crisis of Infinite Kylies Aftermath

Alright here he have the newest coloring commission that I’ve done in line with Slim2k6.  This one is essentially a sequel to “Crisis of Infinite Kylies” and it is the aftermath of their encounter with the ectoplasmic tentacles.

The story in this sequel that both Kylies had managed to subdue the creature and banish it.  Although with the fun (consensual fun) that they had, I have a feeling that they’ll be summoning this creature again sometime in the future. 

Everything was pretty easy, the hardest part of it all was coloring the letters.  Because I had no way to figure out what the font was and I figured that I wouldn’t be able to find it, I decided to do this the hard way:  go in with my polygon lasso tool and make the polygons out of every single letter.  That in itself was a task.  Just to that took me about 2 hours to complete.  But the end results I think were quite worth it.  :-)

Coloring Commission - CallMePo - Slim2k6 - Camp Woody Crisis of Infinite Kylies

This is the newest commission from Slim2k6 who wanted me to color a lineart that was done by callmepo.

This one involved a pair of women, both named Kylie.  I didn’t know much about either character so I asked Slim2k6 about them both and as it turned out they were both the same woman just in different media.  One is Kylie from the Ghostbusters comic books done by IDW.  The other is Kylie from Extreme Ghostbusters.  After having their names and sufficient reference images for them both, I went to coloring them. 

Unlike before where I used my own color pallet, I used the pallets from the screen caps of both characters.  Which made things quite easy.  But when it came to the tentacles, things got tricky.  Initially I was asked to make them transparent so that they would look more like Ghostbusters Ectoplasm meets Hentai tentacles.  Unfortunately it wasn’t as easy as that so, Slim2k6 agreed to have them be solid.  But the fact that they were pink was quite a nice change from the other tentacles that I had done before, which were usually green in color. 

The finishing touch that was asked was to put in “Splurt!” word actions like something out of a comic book as well as to give it the vernier of night.  Which I did but I still wanted to showcase it as if it were in daylight.  Thus the reason why you see four versions of this picture. 
As far as the story of it, at Camp W.O.O.D.Y., there was an ectoplasmic entity that was causing disturbances and so both Kylie’s arrive on the scene and find out that there is only one way to sate and banish the creature.  And I think you can see what it was.

Coloring Commission - Camp Woody On Call

This is a commission made to me by DaCommissioner of a lineart that CallMePo had done.

When I saw it and read what DaCommissioner wanted me to do with it, I knew that I really had my work cut out for me.  For one, the background that was asked for was to be an alleyway at night.  But the biggest challenge that I saw was in the holographic displays that Katara and Korra had.   In my mind I knew that they had to have a glowing quality to it like any kind of computer screen.  But because I didn’t have the font or any way to find out what the font was, I tried a technique of my own on it.   The technique I had in mind was to use the font in the upper corners, copy them and try to manipulate them so that they fit behind the ones in the holographic displays.  Then changing their colors to something bright and adding an outer glow effect would give the desired visual aspect that I had in mind.

Unfortunately, that part didn’t pan out as well as I had hoped.  So, I reverted back to my old polygon lasso tool that I used for everything else and simply clicked and selected around the white spaces between the black circle and the text itself.   Then I gave it the bright color and outer glow and that seemed to work as I had originally intended.

Compared to that, the work on the background was easy.  All I did was lay down some brick colors, and use a “star brush” and set my scattering pretty far apart and did some splattering to give it the brick textured look.  The same was done with the mortar part of the bricks.

Finally I did a black and a dark blue overlay to give it a nighttime appearance.  However I did like how the daytime one came out so I’m posting that one as well. 

And I’m certainly glad that DaCommissioner enjoyed it as much as I did in the challenge of it.
