Coloring Commission - Korra and Asami Cheerleaders

With a lot of things coming up, I decided to see if anyone wanted to commission me again, and thankfully, Fandaar, had a line art from CallMePo that I couldn't resist. This one was a lovely one, because, let's face it, guys, who doesn't like cheerleaders?

If you don't, then watch "Debbie Does Dallas", then come on back.

The idea that Fandaar had with this one was that Korra would be dressed in blue and white while Asami would be in red and white, but, she would be wearing blue panties that she'd be showing off to Korra to really torture her.

Hope all of you like this one. And if you're looking to commission me to bring color to a line art, drop me a line.

Thanks Fandaar for the commission and thanks CallMePo for creating the line art.

Note: All characters depicted here are 18 years of age or older.

Coloring Commission - Garnet and Machina

Recently, I had decided to try to seek out coloring commissions, and thankfully, Rudeboy308 had a line art of Garnet and Machina from the anime "Dragonaut".

I knew that I was biting off a lot in this picture but I'd like to think I've never disappointed in any coloring piece that I've done so I decided to go full force with it.  But I still knew that there was going to be a lot of detail to work with as far as the clothes are concerned.  Thankfully, Rudeboy308 had given me some references to work with as far as the color pallet was concerned.  And with some tips and tricks that I know how to use in Photoshop, it all came together.

Finally, at the end as far as a background was concerned, and since the anime takes place in space, I went with a space theme with stars and nebula.  But of course I wanted the colors to match the person in the foreground, and viola.

Thanks again to Rudeboy308 for the commission

and Thanks to CallMePo for doing the line art.

Coloring Commission - Zatanna and Tharja

Recently, I was asked to color a line art drawn by CallMePo of Zatanna (DC Comics) and Thardja (Fire Emblem).

I knew immediately that this was going to be a challenge given how it's two people overlapping each other and the fact that there are all these stars and sparkles to contend with. But, as always, take things one step at a time. So, I took to it little by little. By the end of it all, I was rather satisfied with its outcome but there was still the issue of the stars so that required a little more meticulous work. By that, I went in with a very fine brush and colored it piece by piece. Once that was done, all I needed to do was add in a simple background and throw in some sparkles of my own and viola.

Thank you to Fandaar who commissioned me for this.

And thank you to CallMePo for the line art.

Note: All characters depicted here are 18 years of age or older.

Coloring Commission - Rudeboy308 - Goei

Here's the newest piece that I've colored as a commission to my long time commissioner; Rudeboy308.  Drawn by CallMePo

I wasn't entirely certain about this character because I've never seen the anime itself.  But given what Rudeboy308 had told me about this one and what they wanted for the background, I did my best to bring that vision to life.  Basically, the idea that was kicked around for this was that she is at a traditional Japanese onsen.  So, I pictured her coming out of the changing area and her robe is open thanks to her being drunk and she's coming to the outside where the bath is.  Having this in mind, I knew that there needed to be the changing room door/curtain behind her.  So with a little research I was able to mimic the curtain as best as I could.  Then with a little symbol implanting with the onsen symbol and the japanese symbol for "woman", it was done.  Or at least it seemed done on paper but I felt that it needed one more thing.  So, I started to think about other things that could happen at a traditional Japanese onsen and it hit me; cherry blossoms.  I decided to add cherry blossoms to it because that is one thing I don't think we see very much of in anime these days.  Maybe it's an old school trope or tactic but I always thought it was a cool thing because cherry blossoms are like pink snow.  How cool is that?

So after searching a lot through other sites and DeviantArt, I finally managed to find a brush that did the cherry blossoms.  Done by kayimi:

Thank you to Rudeboy308 for allowing me this opportunity.

Coloring Commission - Gwen Gets Slimed

In the most recent of commissions from Slim2k6, who has been a great patron as well, we have this piece that was drawn by CallMePo some years back of Gwen from "Total Drama Island" being slimed while at the camp, and really enjoying it by the look of it.

When I was commissioned to do this one, I was given two versions of the picture, one where Gwen looked like she was floating in mid-air and another that featured the slime monster.  And I was asked to color them both.  My work was really cut out for me in this instance and it was a little hard to get to it because my regular job has been so hectic and random as far as its scheduling.  But eventually I managed to finish coloring Gwen but the real challenge ahead was coloring the background and the slime monster.  The reason is because Po tends to shade and color in the line arts and that can make things tricky as far as getting the coloring right.  The same can be said about the background as far as making it look like night time as Slim2k6 wanted.

But after a lot, a lot, and a lot of trial and error and some insight from Slim2k6 as well, I managed to get it to come out just right and here we have the final pieces.

My thanks to Slim2k6 for allowing me the opportunity to color this.

Coloring Commission - CallMePo - Daphne

In a more recent coloring commission from Desscribe, they sent me another art piece drawn by CallMePo of a character from a very obscure comic strip done in Made Magazine called "Hoohah".  The style of which was very reminiscent of Robert Crumb.  If you don't know who they are, I would recommend looking them up or check out the autobiographical movie "Crumb" or even check out the movie "American Splendor" that delves into the writer Harvey Peekar who was the writer of the underground comic and Robert Crumb was the artist for it for a time.

As for the comic for which this piece is derived, it involves a small ghost story in which Daphne and a rather fear prone man find themselves out of gas on a road and a seemingly abandoned house.

It was asked of me to create a piece in which it was on a scary background, but that seemed pretty simple to do compared to the folded frills of Daphne's top.  Coming to that part and coloring it I coudln't help but feel a great swell of pity for CallMePo when he drew that.  If you think drawing that part, imagine trying to color it with all those curves and bends and trying to imagine where the light is hitting it.

Afterwards, it was a simply matter of laying down the wood floor pattern and the walls.

Thank you to CallMePo and Desscribe for allowing me to color this piece.

Coloring Commission - CallMePo - Ladies of Beast King

Here we are, ladies and gentlemen, the first coloring commission I've done in a very long time.  And this, I say without any hesitation, was probably the biggest challenge I've ever faced as a coloring artist.

This one was drawn by CallMePo as a commission to BeastKing

These women are essentially a group of OC's that Beast King created and designed.

Their names from left to right are: Crystal (blue hair), Inferno (red hair), Hardrock (blonde), Omega (black hair), and Emerald (green hair).

The process for the entire picture took almost two weeks.  Each girl took roughly two days to do because of the fact that my regular job has odd hours from week to week so I tried to get in as much time as I could for the picture itself.  Thankfully, BeastKing was patient in waiting for the finished product.  After all the women were finished, the next part was doing the background and it was asked of me to make it look like they were on a spaceship.  So, with that in mind, I went with simple steel bulkheads and a wide pane window looking out into space.  Then I threw out my bag of tricks as far as creating nebula and stars.

My thanks to BeastKing for allowing this challenge and opportunity.

And my thanks to CallMePo for drawing this piece.

Coloring Commission - CallMePo - TDI Tentacle Hike

In the newest commission that was given to me by DaCommissioner and drawn by CallMePo we have Emma from "Total Drama Island" on a hike where there is a 10 million dollar prize but the hike comes with tentacles.  And by the look of things here, Emma is glad to have found them but there's the possibility of missing out on the prize.

This one did take me a long time to do because of the fact that there has been a lot of things going on in the past few weeks at home.  I don't want to go into details about it but it did slow me down as far as the artwork but I think that this piece came out a lot better than I had imagined.

When it was close to being done I knew that there was more that it could use, so I threw in some more trees into the background.  Then when it came to the issue of the sky I decided to go with making two versions of this picture, first a daytime one and then a night time one.  My reasoning for that is becuase I have done both daytime and night time versions of pictures for my commissioner.

Now that it's done, I hope that they are enjoyed as much as I did when I made them.

CallMePo - Kim Possible's Alone TIme

A while back on Twitter, a creator I follow, Phillipthe2, showed off a sketch that CallMePo did of Kim Possible and with that it was shown some clean line artwork that was done over that. I was so impressed by the work that I contacted Phillip and asked if I could color it. They agreed and I was given the high-resolution version of the image. Coloring her was pretty easy, but the background was the harder part. So, I went back to some screenshots of the series to see if I could find anything. And with the little shots, I could find I used that for the bed, floor, and the wall.

Almost looks like the real thing, wouldn't you say?

CallMePo - Gogo's Pajama Challenge

A while ago on Twitter, CallMePo did a sketch of Gogo in what was called the Pajama Challenge.

Shown here:  Gogo Pajama Challenge

After seeing it, I asked if I could color it, and he agreed and, well, it stayed in my computer for a while given all the things that started to spiral out of control with my regular job.  But with the time that I was able to get off, I worked on them and this is what I've gotten so far.

Coloring Commission - Rudeboy308 and CallMePo - Mizuki upstages Naga

In the newest commission piece given to me by Rudeboy308, it had him with the top member of RudeboyHQ308, Mizuki upstaging Naga in her own outfit.

This one took a little longer to do than normal due to the holiday season and having to go through a lot of the 9 to 5 nonsense.  However, I did keep at it, little by little.  Once it was done, I had a few ideas that I threw into it.  Namely that they woudl be in the hallway of a convention on their way to a cosplay convention.  Initially, the plan was to have the background be like a cityscape but when I put forth the idea of a cosplay contest, Rudeboy308 jumped at that and loved it.

I even thew in a word bubble and a small anger mark for good measure.

My thanks to Rudeboy308 for allowing me to color this.

Coloring Commission - CallMePo/DaCommissioner - Crystal and Diedre 2

Recently, DaCommissioner had asked me to color a follow-up piece to Crimson Patroller and Crystal.  The piece was relatively the same in the overall setup but the added challenge to it all was that it was asked that I could have it done before Halloween.  Time crunch, wouldn't you say?

The artwork was done by CallMePo.

But it all worked out in the end.

My thanks to DaCommissioner for allowing me to color this.

CallMePo - Animated Harem Maggie Mui

In the continuing series of "My Animated Harem" we have a piece drawn by the incomparable CallMePo

Original Lineart Found here:  Secret book of CallMePo - Maggie Mui Line Art

I know it's been a while since I've posted anything, but as I've said before in my previous post my regular job and regular life has slowed my overall progress.  This one I had some trouble getting started mainly becuase of the fact that I was having such an issue with the background.  I did want to do something different but I decided to fall back on the same background that I used in a previous version of Maggie done for me by JulyViolet.

However, there was something else that I had done in various versions of Maggie that I hadn't done here; the floating and falling paper in the background.  After a little random scattering, I looked at it and saw that it was a good fit.  Although, I had a little help from Hooksnfangs as far as the skin highlights and "under blush".

As for the title of the book that Maggie is holding: "Bad Behavior" by Mary Gaitskill, the best way I can describe it to anyone is this; "This was 50 Shades of Grey before 50 Shades became the popular go to smut book for bored soccer moms."  The premise is almost identical but the thing is that "Bad Behavior" was released years before.  The story holds a lot of BDSM themes to it so if you're ever in the market to read something like it, I'd recommend it.

My thanks again to CallMePo who drew this and to Hooksnfangs who helped with the finer details.

Coloring Commission - CallMePo - Rudeboy308 - Kiyone

I know that I haven't done much in the way of art recently but the regular job and other things have stopped me from doing my coloring commissions.  Here we have a coloring piece drawn by CallMePo and commissioned to me by Rudeboy308

This one was oddly simply and complicated to do.  For one, the simplicity of the outfit was the fact that it was one character but the complicated part was with the different colors on one uniform.  Doing this made me start to sympathize with the animators for the Tenchi series itself.

the other part that was hard was Kiyone's hair, if you know the Tenchi series and it's various sequels and spin-offs then you'll know what I mean about her hair.  The fact of it is that it seems to change color and shades from series to series and so that makes it hard to pin down.  Is it dark blue?  Is it black?  Is it a deep green?  It's hard to pin down but with a little tinkering, I think I managed to get it.  But in the end, it was the opinion of the commissioner that sealed it.  And they were very pleased with it.

Thank you, Rudeboy308 for commissioning me and my thanks to CallMePo for drawing it.

Coloring Commission - CallMePo - DaCommissioner - Crystal and the Crimson Patroller

Here is the newest coloring commission that was given to me by DaCommissioner, and was drawn for them by CallMePo.  These these two ladies are original characters that he designed.  The one in the Raven-esque outfit is Crystal and the other one who is being held up is named "The Crimson Patroller".  And from what was told to me about the events of this picture is that it all started with trying out a new spell that had gone either horribly wrong or maybe very right, depending on how you look at it.

Coloring these two was a challenge.  Crystal was easy by comparison, The Crimson Patroller was much more difficult.  The reason for that is because she was set at a very odd angle.  So it was actually thanks to my friend Hooksnfangs that I was able to color them properly.

My thanks to DaCommissioner for allowing me to color this.

ColorComm - BeastKing1981 - Exodus as Caulifa

As part of another commission from "ArtoftheBeast", they gave me this line art that was drawn by CallMePo of a character they did named "Exodus" cosplaying as Caulifa from "Dragonball Super".

Coloring her was easy and a bit of a challenge.  Especially the hair since it feels like I was coloring the leaves of an artichoke.  Thus the reason why I was joking that her name should have been changed to "Artichoa".  Though, I did do a different version of the character where she has Super Saiyan hair.  If you want to see that, go to my Blogspot page.

As for the background, since it's the Dragonball series, it wasn't hard to think of an idea for that; a lot of rock formations with green grass on top of them.

Coloring Commission - CallmePo - BeastKing1981 - Omega

Recently, I was commissioned to color this piece of work drawn by CallMePo for BeastKing1981

Here is the original line art:  Omega OC by CallMePo

The character's name is "Omega" and in speaking with my commissioner, I asked them what they had in mind for this, such as the colors of the eyes, the lips, the black hole that she wields in her hand.  And then there was teh background.  The background he wanted it to be in space.  Hearing that I already knew the best thing to throw in there; her against a nebula cause really, why not?

Thank you again for commissioning me and thank you, CallMePo, for doing such marvelous work.

CallMePo - Animated Harem Tracer

Here is the newest addition to my animated harem drawn by CallMePo, this time we have Tracer of Overwatch.

Here is the original lineart:  CallMePo on Twitter - Tracer

He had done this a while ago and it did take me a while to get to it but I think the wait is well worth it, wouldn't you say?  When I finished it, I knew that this called for a lot of add-ons such as what I did with the various word bubbles.

And I so had to add in that one about being offended in reference to "buttgate".  Still offended?  Good.

As for the look of the controller, that was suggested by my friend Hooksnfangs at Twitter.  He showed me the Tracer themed PS4 controller and I tried to mimic it as best I could.

Once again, thanks to CallMePo for the marvelous work that they've done.

CallMePo - Dark magician girl

A while ago, CallMePo had opened up a commission list for sketches and I wanted to get in on it and at the time I had already finished up the Dark Magician Girl and Blue Eyes White Dragon so I decided to have him do something similar.

As soon as it was done, I wanted to get onto coloring it, unfortunately there were a lot of things going on that needed my attention so working on colorings took a small backseat.  But little by little I came back and worked on it bit by bit.  When I got to the background I already knew what it needed.  The idea I had for it was to make it look like one of the cards from the Yu-Gi-Oh Game.

Thanks again to CallMePo for the work they've done.

Coloring Commission - CallMePo - Desscribe - EC Girls Sarah and Della

This is the newest set of coloring commissions that was given to me by Desscribe of a line art that was done by CallMePo.

Like before, Desscribe had CallMePo do artwork based off of the old EC Comics.  The one on the left is Sarah (featured in Crime SuspenStories #17) and the one on the right is Della (featured in Weird Science #19).  One again, coloring them in their nude form was easy but coloring them when they're in the frilly lingerie was a lot harder.  Mainly because of all those curves, crevices and other tiny spaces.  Doing all this using a mouse and the polygon lasso tool can be a little hard on the hand but the end result is worth it.

But I want to thank Desscribe for commissioning me for this piece and thanks to CallmePo for allowing me to color his work.

Note:  all character(s) depicted here are 18 years of age or older.
