This is a chibi of my original character/persona “Shinkei”. Which I had originally designed for a forum RPG but it’s pretty much become my anime/animated persona here.

Netspike - Shinkei Firebending Practice

This is the colored version of the Shinkei Firebending Lineart by Netspike

I think that the first piece of his that I saw, which drew me to him was his Katara Waterbending picture that he did. After looking through his gallery I thought to myself that I would commission him to bring my character Shinkei to life in the Avatar animation style.

Originally, I wanted him to draw Shinkei in his, what has become, his trademark suit. However, because of the world of Avatar: the Last Airbender a few things had to be changed around a little. So we compromised on putting him in one of the four nations doing one of the elemental styles. Netspike liked the idea of the Fire Nation and firebending so that’s where he put him. I agreed and instructed him to draw Shinkei in some kind of Fire Nation outfit and in a dojo-like setting.

When he was done I admit that I was a little taken aback and overwhelmed at the prospect of the coloring of this. The character itself wasn’t so much of a problem as the background but as with all the linearts that I’ve colored a little patience can go a very long way.

Bokuman - Shinkei Airbending

This is the newest in the series of pieces of the character I created named “Shinkei” and I think that this will be the last of the series.  There may be others but at this point I’m not entirely sure if there will be.

The line-art version was done for me by the wonderful artist Bokuman who did it in this piece StarDragon77 Commission 009010

As the title states, Shinkei is doing airbending in this one or “Air Bagu Wa” as I referred to it in the Forum RPG that I created this character for - which is the reason for the symbol there - the sword with the stars around it.  The symbol was created by me for the forum before it all went under.  It really was a shame but I liked the way that I had designed this character so I decided to keep him and keep going with the artwork that I’ve had Bokuman do of him.

The only real hard part about this one was coloring the “wind wisps” I guess you could call them.  After all it is incredibly difficult to color wind or wind motions (especially against a white background) so I made it a very light gray sort of color that would be easy to see but would be unmistakable for wind.

Bokuman - Shinkei Earthbending

New Lineart Commission that Bokuman did for me.

Essentially this is keeping within a series of pictures that I’m having Bokuman do for me.

The first one of Shinkei shows him doing a little firebending - which is actually him generating fire around his fists.

The second one is where he’s doing Water Tai Chi or waterbending

This third one that you see here is of him doing Earthbending or Earth Hong Gar Kung Fu - similar to the earthbenders of Avatar the Last Airbender.

In comparison to the last piece that I did - this one was fairly easy, probably because I’ve colored Shinkei enough times to know what to do and what not to do.  Added to the fact that since the chunk of rock that’s floating in front of him doesn’t need any special techniques or filters it was fairly easy to complete.  The only real part that required any finesse was the dust trails that you see coming off of the rock itself.  I put those in mainly because I figured that if Shinkei was lifting a rock out of the ground with his technique then it would stand to reason that there would be some dust coming off of it.

Again, it is a shame that Clash of the Titans forum RPG is no more because of how good this character is.

Bokuman - Shinkei Waterbending

This is the colored version of the New Commission that Bokuman did for me.

For this one, I asked him to have my character Shinkei do some waterbending (Water Tai Chi) similar to Katara in “Avatar the Last Airbender”.  I admit that I did base Shinkei off of Avatar but I made several changes here and there.  Such as Shinkei comes from a dojo where elemental martial arts is taught and in order to gain the title of master he has to go on a journey to learn the hidden elements for himself.

For this peice it was rather difficult because of the way the water is and I wanted to try to make it look like water.  So after coloring Shinkei and getting to it I decided to try to use a few tricks I know - mainly dealing with layer type in photoshop (types like Screen, Multiply, etc).  Unfortunately those didn’t work so I tried to tune the opacity level of the layer.  Getting it down to about 85% and it gives the water a slightly transparent look.

Again, it is a shame that Clash of the Titans forum RPG is no more because of how good this character is.

Bokuman - Forum RPG Character: Shinkei

Another in the great line of line arts that I have commissioned the artist Bokuman, Shinkei Commission

This character is something that I designed for a Forum RPG that I play at called “Clash of the Titans” and I designed him mainly off of “Avatar: The Last Airbender”

Age: 25

Race: Avataran

Sex: Male

Hair: Black

Eyes: Brown

Height: 6 foot 1 Inch

Weight: 170 lbs

Powers:

Elemental manipulation. The use and manipulation of the four elements; earth, air, fire, and water in the forms of different martial arts styles.

Weaknesses:

Each style has its own weakness. Such as with water; if he is to put into a dry place where there is little to no water (i.e. a desert) he cannot use this style. Fire has its weakness against water, such as if it’s raining or if he were surrounded by water, it’d have little use. Earth’s weakness is being suspended from any kind of rock or metal. Air having the most deadly weakness; cutting off his air supply which would result in his death.

Appearance:

A long black coat that has the length of a trench coat but the look of a suit jacket. Along with a light green shirt, blue tie, and black pants. A pair of black sunglasses with reflective lenses (Wears Occasionally).

Though sometimes he also has a green Samurai’s Kimono (robe) and black Hakama (pants)

Biography:

Raised from a family of martial artists, who have this unique ability to manipulate the four elements by the use of four different styles of martial arts. For the element of Water, he uses Tai Chi. To move Earth to his will, a form of Hong Gar Kung Fu is used (which is most notable by using strong rooting to the ground). In the creation and manipulation of fire, he uses a different form of Northern Shao Lin, which uses long range attacks as well as a lot of quick advance and retreats. Finally, to manipulate air, a form called Bagu Wa or “Circle Walking” is used.

Even though he is marvelously disciplined in the use of his martial arts and elemental manipulation, he does have the slight tendency to switch from being serious to being absolutely silly within an instant. Along with this slight personality quirk, he also has a slight addiction to sweets, particularly white chocolate.

Currently, he travels the universe with The League of Heroes in search of learning the next three elements. These elements are Holy, Shadow, and Nature. Once he masters these three elements, he may become one of the most dangerous martial artists alive.

The only edits that I’ve made to this is the inclusion of a shadow beneath him and the crest/symbol/insignia of the organization that he works for - The League Of Heroes.

This was part of the Forum RPG that I played at called “Clash of the Titans” but unfortunately the forum went under.  Such a sad thing because I was the only player at the forum who actually went this far to have a drawing made of the character.
