Coloring Commission - Rudeboy208 - Bokuman's Misato Katsuragi

Recently, I had an old commissioner Rudeboy308 have me do a coloring of a piece that was done for him by Bokuman. 

Part of what was asked of me for this one was to give it a background that was similar to Misato's apartment.  The idea was that she was making her way to the bedroom.  Once it was done the idea occurred to us whether we know if she's going to the bedroom or not and then Rudeboy308 suggested the idea of Misato saying something that would elude to her going to bed.  With that in mind, Rudeboy308 suggested that she say "get in the robot tomorrow, Shinji...get in the pussy tonight."

Coloring Com - Bokuman - Strangerataru - Sheri Cosplaying Diamond Lil

Here we have a new coloring commission that was given to me by Strangerataru who had commissioned Bokuman for the lineart itself.

It’s a pretty simple setup.  From what Strangerataru had told me the character here is his original character, Sheri (a werewolf), cosplaying as Diamond Lil of Alpha Flight.  And thankfully he provided me with the reference images needed for this one.  And really the only real complicated part of this piece was the hair because it’s wavy but I’m glad with how it turned out.

Coloring Commission - SJD83 - Leo-Na and Nathaira

Here is the newest coloring commission that was made to me by SJD83 this is the second in a pair that he had Bokuman draw for him and that I colored for him.

Original Lineart:  Commission SJD83

I had a feeling that I had my work cut out for me with this one.  The harder one of the two was the Lamia name Nathaira.  It wasn’t just coloring her regular body but it was also an issue of coloring her snake half that would be tricky.  What made this a little trickier was the fact that I did this during the middle of some exams that I’ve been involved with as well as an academic project.  Thankfully, SJD83 was kind enough to not exert too much pressure of time on me with this and so I was able to work at my own pace.

After Nathaira was finished, coloring Leo-Na was the easier part since most of her body was covered up by Nathaira’s tail.

Coloring Commission - Leo-Na and Lynxana

Here is the newest piece in a line of coloring commissions that SJD83 has made to me.  This one is from a lineart that was done by Bokuman and features a frequent favorite of SJD83s: the genderbend version of Lion-O from “Thundercats”, or rather “Leo-na” in this case.

As for the other character in this picture, her name is “Lynxana”.  From what SJD83 told me, she made a few small appearances in the Thundercats comics.  That made things a little tricky from a coloring standpoint since I didn’t have a lot to base her on since old comics use a pointilation method of coloring where there are dots of varying degrees of different primary colors.  Such as a mixture of red and blue dots to make purple and so on.  So picking out what shade of color to use for her became difficult indeed. 

But eventually it all came together.

Coloring Commission - Bokuman - Darkwarrior - Ultra Magnus and Sparkle

Here we have a new commission from a new commissioner.  Although the lineart isn’t exactly anything new for me given how I have colored dozens of linearts drawn by Bokuman.

When DarkWarrior approached me with this commission, I knew that I had my work cut out for me with this.  It is a rare occasion for me to color robots but it is something that I’ve done before, such as with my MP3 Player Transformers that Bokuman had also designed (Pitch and Wave). By comparison to those two, this one was a lot simpler because of how the “Generation 1″ Transformers had a far blockier design to them.  As you can see with how their limbs and bodies have blocks, squares and rectangles for their limbs and bodies.

So, to begin the coloring I just made a few layers, a base color, first shading and second shading, and then I went through and locked all those three layers and made the color modifications to them.  Such as using Ultra Magnus’ colors of red, white and blue.  Initially, I used the color scheme of Ultra Magnus from the first Transformers movie (1986).  But as it turns out, I was using the wrong pallet which cased a few problems that I needed to go back and fix.  But thankfully it wasn’t too much of a headache as I had imagined.

As for the second character, Sparkle, she is what’s called a “Pretender”.  In the Transformers Universe, disguise is a big component.  However, instead of disguising themselves as machinery, such as trucks, cars, planes or anything like that, Pretenders, disguise themselves as organic beings, such as animals or even people.  And that’s the case with “Sparkle” here, an Autobot disguised as a human.  Although, I hadn’t been able to find any record of her in any of the wikis so I imagine that she’s a fan character.  But from a coloring standpoint, she was by far the easiest to do.  Just skin, clothes and hair.  Not a lot of blocks to think about.

Coloring Commission - Bokuman - SJD83 - Pumyra

Here we have another coloring commission from the generous SJD83.  He had done a series of lineart commissions to Bokuman which involved the original versions of the Thundercats characters Cheetara and Pumyra.

I admit that I was pretty young when the original Thundercats aired so a lot of the details about it were pretty fuzzy to me.  And I was reintroduced to Thundercats with the newer 2011 series and I wondered if Pumyra was a hcaracter created for the 2011 series.  So, I went and looked it up and turns out that she was part of the original cast as well.
But from a coloring standpoint, Pumyra was FAR easier to color than Cheetara.  Just a small color pallet and a few tweaks to layers here and there and she was finally finished.
At last it was done and SJD83 loved it.  :-)

Coloring Commission - Bokuman - SJ83 - Cheetara

At last it was done and SJ83 loved it.  :-)

Here we have a coloring commission that was made to me SJD83 by of a lineart that he had commissioned to Bokuman

It’s always a pleasure to color Bokuman’s lineart it’s like going back and revisiting a favorite restaurant.

But because I’ll be going to a convention soon, I needed to raise funding for it so I’ve been asking around some of my regulars if they have any new linearts that they’d like colored and SJD83 had one that he had overlooked.  It’s another Genderbend of Lion-O.  I know that many of you have reservations even outright hatred of genderbend characters but that’s another issue entirely that I’d rather not get into.

For this picture, it was pretty easy compared to the other stuff I’ve done.  All that was needed was just to color the character and that was that.  So I pretty much had the pallet set up.  The only real trick of this one was coloring the sword but in my experience coloring metal is tricky no matter what.  But thankfully, SJD83 loved what I had done so that’s all that matters.

Here’s a coloring commission made to me by SJD83 of a lineart that was done for him by Bokuman

There isn’t much that can be said in terms of a background about this character.  I had asked SJD83 about her and he told me that it was an original character that he had been tinkering around with for the 80s version of “Thundercats”.  The basis of her “Feline Species” is essentially a Leopard.  Beyond that there wasn’t anything else, personality wise or history.

However, he did have one image that had the color pallet for her, which was an enormous help.

Coloring Commission - Leon-A Tentacle Attack

This is a coloring commission made to me by SJD83 with the lineart done by Bokuman

After doing the last one that I did for SJD83, this one seemed to be a bit of a breeze since no background was required in the coloring process.  But then after I finished coloring Leon-a, next came the really difficult part: Coloring the tentacles.  In the process of it, I couldn’t help but think about the people who animate and color tentacles in both anime and hentai.  I started to really sympathize with them because of how much of a pain in the ass it was to get my polygon lasso tool into the lines of the tentacles and to get it into the right one.  Becuase just when you’ve finished clicking the right area, you soon find out that you did the wrong area.

I will say this, it was a good thing that it wasn’t asked that each tentacle be a different color.  Otherwise that would have raised the difficulty rating quite a lot.

Bokuman - Bunny Girl - Olivia Bentley

Here’s the second in the most recent batch of Bunny Girl linearts drawn by Bokuman and that I’ve colored.  This one is for Olivia Bentley, as the name in the picture describes, when I was talking with her she had mentioned various hobbies that she loves to do.  Among them was playing the drums, cooking in a pretty blue apron, tap dancing, ballet, Mixed martial arts and painting.  I remember already doing a picture where a woman was painting on a canvas so I decided to go with something different so I asked her if the apron was alright and she agreed to it and that’s where Bokuman worked his magic.

Then it was left to me to color it in.  I do admit that I feel a certain amount of shame that I had left it unfinished for so long and really there’s no excuse for it.  But I still managed to finish it and I hope that Olivia will enjoy this as much as I have in coloring it.  

Bokuman - Bunny Girl - Sophia Sun

Here we have the colored version of Sophia Sun, which was drawn for me by Bokuman as a gift for a woman, by the same name, who works over at the Moonlight Bunny Ranch.  I’ve had this lineart in my folder for some time but didn’t get around to coloring it and I do hate to leave things unfinished like this.  Espcially when it comes to gift art.  So I pulled it out and went back to work on it.

In my talks with Sophia Sun for her fan art, she mentioned some of her hobbies and one of them was photography.  So I suggested to have her posed with a camera but what model was the question and so I asked and she told me that any model I chose would be alright.  Given that freedom I chose the camera that I use: a Canon PowerShot SX130 IS.

Hope Sophia likes this one as well.  

Bokuman - Bunny Girl - Jayla Conrad

There is the final piece in the latest set of Bunny Girl commissions done by Bokuman

This one is of a woman named Jayla Conrad (As you can see by the name in the picture). In talking with her and discussing hobbies and such that I can put into the picture for her she told me that she likes to paint and it occurred to me that I hadn’t had a lineart done of a woman painting so that’s what I had Bokuman do. And as it was pointed out by Leviadragon99 it is quite the inverse. Normally when it comes to art you expect the artist to be painting a woman nude but in this case you have a nude artist painting. To tell the truth I hadn’t really thought of it like that but it is an interesting notion in its own way.

When it came to the canvas itself I knew that I didn’t want to leave it as a blank section of white. So I went out into DeviantArt and looked for textures that would be similar to that of an actual artist canvas. And I found it by enchantedgal-stock called White Paper Texture.

So I’d like to thank them personally for the canvas texture.

Bokuman - Bunny Girl - Ruby Rae

This is the colored version of the Ruby Rae Lineart that Bokuman did for me.

This one is another in the long line of pieces that I had done for the women of the Moonlight Bunny Ranch. This time this one is named Ruby Rae. In my discussions with her she didn’t exactly request anything specific except for the outfit which was a combination of black and very light purple that had a nearly transparent quality to it.

That was the tricky part but thanks to the fact that I could control the opacity of the paint in Photoshop I had managed to lay down that transparent look to it. On the other hand another way to have done it is to turn down the opacity levels of the layers themselves but it seemed easier to do it with the paint.

Moonlite Bunny Ranch

Bokuman - Bunny Girl - Mixie Rose

This is the colored version of the Mixie Rose Lineart that I had commissioned of Bokuman

This one is for Mixie Rose who had said that she wanted to be a Jedi. So that this makes her the second girl from the Moonlite Bunny Ranch that’s a Star Wars fan. What was really fun about this was the fact that in our discussions I came up with the idea of having her posed with the lightsaber, the robe and the boots but nothing else. And I have a good feeling that there would be a lot of Star Wars fans that would love this one because I know I do.

The only tricky part was the lightsaber blade. I used to be able to know how to do it but thanks to a few tutorials on DeviantArt I managed to make something. Although, I didn’t exactly know what color that Mixie Rose wanted and from what I know about the Star Wars series is that the color of the lightsaber denotes a Jedi’s class.

Green for the Jedi Consular, the one who studies the Force in depth.

Blue for the Jedi Guardian, this one studies lightsaber techniques.

Yellow for the Jedi Sentinel, this Jedi studies other techniques beyond the Force and the Lightsaber.

And of course there’s red for the Sith but there are other colors that one could use if they want to be different such as orange and purple.

So there you have it.

Unfortunately, since I was unable to get a hold of Mixie to find out which color she wanted I punted and went with blue. No idea why but it seemed to fit her. But if she wants a different color then it’s an easy change to make.

Bokuman - Bunny Girl - Jade Capri

It really has been a long time since I got a chance to make commissions of women of the Bunny Ranch to Bokuman and I managed to get a few requests lined up and among them was this from a woman named Jade Capri. In my discussions with her she talked about how one of her hobbies was volleyball.

I know some of you might think it seems a little cliche to have a nude woman playing volleyball but then again it does work.

Bokuman - Bunny Girl - Air Force Amy

This is a colored version of the commission Air Force Amy lineart that was drawn for me by Bokuman

This piece was done for one of the Bunny Ranch’s most famous members, Air Force Amy. I remember seeing her a lot in the show “Cathouse” and how she was just so lively and full of energy. Whether it was an act or not is up for debate but it is my own opinion that she is genuinely like that.

As far as the outfit that I thought of putting her in I felt that a flightsuit would be the most appropriate given her namesake. She agreed and that’s how it came about. And for a little added sweetness to it I felt that I should add the American flag behind her. Just seemed to fit.
