My Mandalorian Cosplay

 

Even before "the Mandalorian" aired I've wanted to make my own Mandalorian armor build but I've been having such trouble trying to figure out how to do it.  But thanks to the wonderful people at the Mandalorian Mercs, I managed to find a lot of resources for how to do it.  So, I'm going to be posting a lot of updates because I have so much going on.  So here's a list in chronological order of what I've done.

Mandalorian cosplay build - Jumpsuit finished

 Here's the update on the cosplay for my mandalorian build.  Following the guidelines of the Mandalorian mercs, I've managed to not only sew up the hole left by the removed leg pocket then I sewed up the side pockets up.  And now that's the jumpsuit finished.  Now the next really tough part is the flak vest.

I'm starting work on my Mandalorian build and I'm working on the jumpsuit to get it to the guidelines of the Mandalorian mercs.  Namely with the pockets of the jumpsuit.  So I've been taking off the seat pockets.  Those came off just right but now I have an issue with a set of side leg pockets that I'm trying to figure out how to take care of.  Should I just cut it off at the seam or try to be surgical and open the seam and take out the fabric pieces.

NudieDoodles - Slytherin Noodle

A while ago on Twitter I came across this artist named "NudieDoodles" who did this art piece or rather designed a character that they called "Noodle":

I saw it and instantly loved it.  I think it was because of the fact that she had this cuteness to her and the fact that she had short hair which is something that I don't think is done enough with characters these days.  So I had this idea because in one of the tweets Harry Potter came up, at least I think that's how it came up, and I had this idea of Noodle being in her Hogwarts house but underneath she's wearing panties of a house she's secretly rooting for. 

So, I contacted NudieDoodles and discussed the whole idea with them and they liked it already.  Initially when I discussed the line art I wanted it to be that she's wearing a Slytherin Uniform but wearing Ravenclaw panties.  Though NudieDoodles said that she saw her rooting for Gryffindor.  So, a compromise was reached in which the panties would be left blank so that way when I color them I can put in whatever colors and crest I'd like. 

After it was done, the real fun began.  Most of the uniform was gray but that was okay because that really helps the colors of her pop a little more.  Especially for the tie and the panties.  Because of the earlier discussion with NudieDoodles, I decided to make two versions.  First the Slytherin uniform with Gryffindor panties and then another with Ravenclaw panties. 

And I couldn't help but continue to send work in progress pictures to NudieDoodles a lot. 

But the biggest challenge at the end was making a background and so I did a little research into the look of Hogwarts halls backgrounds.  And much like a lot of really old schools in the United Kingdom, there are stone walls with paintings on the wall.  So I spoke with NudieDooldes about this idea and it was suggested that I'd be throwing in my old artwork in the background but I dismissed it saying that I'd like to put in old artwork of theirs in the background.

Coloring Commission - Rudeboy308 and CallMePo - Mizuki upstages Naga

In the newest commission piece given to me by Rudeboy308, it had him with the top member of RudeboyHQ308, Mizuki upstaging Naga in her own outfit. 

This one took a little longer to do than normal due to the holiday season and having to go through a lot of the 9 to 5 nonsense.  However, I did keep at it, little by little.  Once it was done, I had a few ideas that I threw into it.  Namely that they woudl be in the hallway of a convention on their way to a cosplay convention.  Initially, the plan was to have the background be like a cityscape but when I put forth the idea of a cosplay contest, Rudeboy308 jumped at that and loved it. 

I even thew in a word bubble and a small anger mark for good measure.

Coloring Com - Bokuman - Strangerataru - Sheri Cosplaying Diamond Lil

Here we have a new coloring commission that was given to me by Strangerataru who had commissioned Bokuman for the lineart itself.

It’s a pretty simple setup.  From what Strangerataru had told me the character here is his original character, Sheri (a werewolf), cosplaying as Diamond Lil of Alpha Flight.  And thankfully he provided me with the reference images needed for this one.  And really the only real complicated part of this piece was the hair because it’s wavy but I’m glad with how it turned out.

Crafts - Knitting - Commission - Slytherin Scarf

This one is both a commission and a cosplay exchange between myself and Kay-Sama

This is the second part for Kay-Sama’s and SniperPlushie’s Harry Potter cosplay. The Gryffindor Scarf would be for Sniper and the Slytherin Scarf would be for Kay-sama.

Bokuman - Bunny Girl - Charisma Love as a Tomb Raider

This is the colored version of Charisma Love lineart drawn by Bokuman

Here’s another in the series of Bunny Ranch girls that are done between Bokuman and myself.

I have the opportunity to speak to Charisma Love on a fairly regular basis and when I told her about these she wanted to be included and since I had spoken to her quite often she had felt left out a little. So I figured “why not?” And she instantly had an idea of who she wanted to be dressed as in this picture. “I want to be like a Tomb Raider” she told me. So I dug through some pictures of Lara Croft and Bokuman came up with the lineart. Then it was up to me to give it color.

The tricky part was what kind of colors to use. Since I like to give a lot of detail I had to ask for eye color since a lot of the time in pictures they don’t really show eye color that easily. After that I had asked Charisma about if she had any color preferences for the shirt and shorts. Midnight Blues and Earth tones. Given how Lara Croft wears khaki/camel colored shorts that part was easy.
