Coloring Commission - CallMePo - TexanJoe - Arm Wrestling

This is the second in a set of three pictures that TexanJoe has asked me to color.  The original lineart was done by @callmepo.

In today’s picture we have Andrea/Andromeda vs. Power Girl in a very friendly arm wrestling match. Starting the coloring process for Andromeda and Power Girl was easy the real trick of it was making the background.  What I had in mind for it was that they would be doing this at a bar because where else would be the most appropriate place for two superheroines like these two to have such a competition. 

And so with that in mind I went into my photoshop bag of tricks and went into putting down some wooden paneling.  After that, just a slight blur for the background and then overlaying some gradients to make it look like there is some light shining down.  Finally I put in the same effect above them to give the appearance of them doing their competition underneath a single overhead lamp. And throw in some dust particles and there you have it.

I’m certainly happy with how this came out and stay tuned for the third piece which is going to be very NSFW type of hot.

Coloring Commission - Power Girl as Thor by CallMePo

This is the most recent coloring commission of a sketch/lineart that was done by CallMePo

However, in a rather unusual turn of events, the sketch was commissioned to Po by Cypher3au but the coloring of this lineart was made to me by Grey-Forrester.

It’s unusual because usually the people who commission me to color linearts are people who commissioned the linearts in the first place.  So, in order not to get any kind of confusion put out tehre, I contacted Cypher3au and told them of the situation and whether it was alright to go ahead with it.  I was given permission and went ahead.

I knew that this was going to be a tough commission, not just because of the armor itself but because of how detailed it was.  So, I thought over about what the colors would be.  I decided to go with the Power Girl uniform colors, the white, gold, blue and red.

Next came the painstaking process of coloring the armor itself.  Thankfully I had a good long playlist to keep my mind entertained while my hands were being entertained by this.

Initially, I wanted to do a background.   Given that this is Power Girl in Thor’s armor, I thought that what would make for a nice background is if she were standing on the Bifrost bridge (The Rainbow Bridge) and the bridge would be streaking through the vastness of space itself.  But as things turned out, my commissioner only had enough of a budget for me to color Power Girl herself.  Oh well, right?

CallMePo - Greek Style Colored

To keep my coloring skills sharp, I had been looking for other linearts to color.  Among them were some of the commissions that were made to by CallMePo by Cypher3au . I had asked him if there were any that he didn’t mind having colored and there were some that were already colored and he sent me some of the high resolution pictures.  Among them were some more Power Girl/Wonder Woman pieces.

Here’s the original:  Greek Style Lineart

I often heard stories about how in Ancient Greece physical workouts were done nude and that it was also in Greece where oil wrestling had first originated.  So, with that in mind I began to try to see what I could do with this piece.  Everything was pretty easy given the other pieces I had done for Cypher3au that involved Wonder Woman and Power Girl.  But the thing that made this one the trickiest was the fact that there was going to be a lot of sharp highlights thanks to the oil.  So there had to be more detail thrown in there.

After it was done, I set my sights on the background.  My first instinct was to go with a locker room which was pretty easy to do, just needed to set up the lockers, combine the layers and skew it a little to give the illusion of depth.

I then sent it to Cypher3au and he told me that his initial idea was that they would be in the arena on Themyscira (Wonder Woman’s homeland) but he then said that the idea of them doing this in the locker room of the Justice League watchtower was just as titillating.

So, I’m rather happy how this turned out and it gave me a chance to stretch a little in terms of skill.

Coloring Commission - CallMePo - Power Girl and Atlee

Here we have a coloring commission that was given to me by Aidenke.
Technically this is the second one I’ve done for him, but the first one will not be shown at his request.

Payment on the Backside

I realize that the picture that Po has is a little different from this one.  I guess there was a change at some point but it’s still pretty much the same.  After seeing it and Aidenke asking me to essentially color it and put in a background, I was a little overwhelmed because I hadn’t done anything like this before.  Given the position that Power Girl is sitting in I had to fill in the background around her so that she fits into it.  Compared to that coloring Power Girl and Atlee was the easier part of it.  And thankfully Aidenke was patient with me and we kept exchanging messages back and forth to make sure that it was done with the proper justice that he had in mind.

But still, I thank Aidenke for the opportunity to color a lineart like this and present an interesting challenge.  And I certainly hope that in the future I’ll be able to do others since I know there are a series of pictures of these two that he had done with CallMePo.

Coloring Commission - CallMePo - Wonder Woman is Tipsy

This is the newest coloring commission that was made to me by Cypher3au.  When I first saw this picture, I liked it immediately.

The setup of this picture is that there’s a event or a party involving members of the Justice League and Diana (Wonder Woman) is sampling some off-world liquor that was brought in by Big Barda and apparently, it was far too strong for her Amazonian constitution.  So, in her inebriated state she goes over to Power Girl to see if she’s wearing underwear underneath her dress.  

When it came to Power Girl’s dress, he told me that initially he told CallMePo that he wanted it to be a “knock off of Jessica Rabbit’s Dress” but he said that he wanted it in a different color set.  So, I went through various color combinations before we settled upon the colors of Power Girl’s costume, namely the white of the main outfit with the blue of her boots and gloves.

As for the color of the liquor, I had asked Cypher3au about this and he decided upon green as part of the Star Trek gag.

The way that he put it, he wanted it to go like this:

Wonder Woman:  What is this drink?

Big Barda:  It is green.

As I had mentioned earlier with Power Girl’s Dress being like that of Jessica Rabbit’s, that was my initial color test.  That I gave it the colors of that dress and added sparkles to it.  Unfortunately, it wasn’t what Cypher3au wanted, but I liked it so much that I decided to keep it and display it here.
When I looked back on old screen caps of Jessica Rabbit I saw how that there were even sparkles in her dress in the shadows.  So, keeping with that, I just used the star brush and applied it all over the dress and then added black layers for the shadows and tweaked the opacity.

Drstrangebob - Miss Power and Kara Danvers

This is a colored version of the commission Ms. Power that was drawn for me by DrStrangebob

I decided to have him do more of the Amalgam comic characters that I thought of given the great job that he did on Talia Rrab. For this one I had him do Miss Power.

This particular character I wanted there to be something different as far as her disguise goes. The notion of it came up when I, like so many others, kept laughing at Superman’s idea of a disguise. That being that he would just slip on a pair of glasses and no one would recognize him. So to make fun of that, I had Miss Power’s alter ego be very different in physical attributes. Namely that she’s shorter and less busty along with how she has brown hair in opposition to Miss Power’s blonde hair, and she wears glasses on top of that. So seeing the two of them standing side-by-side like this you’d hardly suspect that they are the same person, would you?

Team Affiliation: Avengers League (a.k.a. The League of Avengers)

Weakness: Kree-ptonie. A piece of the planet Krypton that through unknown radiation has been given not only an opal and prismatic hue but it also has the ability to weaken Miss Marvel and with enough exposure it may be able to kill her.

CallMePo - Nega-Girl

This is the colored version of Nega Girl drawn by callmepo.

The idea behind this is that this character is an “anti” or a reverse image version of Power Girl.  However, this version of her comes from a dimension that is mostly dominated by magic.  She uses five ancient runes that are on her body in the form of a pentagram.  One in her crotch, two on her chest, and two in each hand and added to the fact that she draws upon the negative energy from the people around her.

I found the idea to be very provocative and so I asked CallMePo if he had a high resolution or a larger version of the picture.  Eventually he said yes and I immediately went to coloring it.

Initially, I started with a version of her with the same girls as Power Girl: White and blue uniform with blonde hair.  In this second version of Nega-girl, I had changed a lot of the color schemes to reflect a more opposite version of Power Girl.  I admit that I was somewhat inspired by the gothic/emo fashions.  Especially given how her hair covers up half of her face.  So I went with black and red as well as colored her hair black and made her skin a paler.

As things turned out, this one was much more popular and personified the “anti” aspects.

Marciotakara - Amalgam - Miss Power

Name: Ms. Power

Alter Ego: Kara Danvers

Team Affiliation: Avengers League (a.k.a. The League of Avengers)

This is the colored version of the Miss Power Lineart drawn by Marciotakara

It’s also part of a series of comic characters that I’ve been thinking of and improving upon. A while back, Marvel and DC comics came together and created “Amalgam Comics” in which they had merged and fused many of their comic book characters. Such as Superman and Captain America into “Super Soldier”. Batman and Wolverine into “Dark Claw”. Iron Man and the Green Lantern into “The Iron Lantern” which I had commissioned and colored to Bokuman and is on display in his gallery and my own.

For this one I commissioned it to Marciotakara given what I had seen of his work in making comic book characters.

The idea behind this one is that it is a fusion of Power Girl and Miss Marvel and thus creates “Miss Power”. Originally when it started I wanted there to be a counterpart to fuse with Power Girl given how I’ve come to like her. So thanks to ClassicCowboy who gave me the suggestion of Miss Marvel I went with it.

As for the colors of this one. I used a lot of the colors that I had used for my colored version of “Nega Girl” drawn by CallMePo. But as for the hair and the eyes I wanted to go with red hair and green eyes because I feel that there aren’t enough redheads in comics. There are a few but I don’t think that there are enough.

Originally, I had Miss Power as a redhead with green eyes but then I had shown the picture to my good friend Inkonherlips who is a great set of second eyes. And she convinced me to try to use blonde hair since it would be a more true fusion of Miss Marvel and Power Girl given that they’re both blonde.  And to give her blue eyes because it looks more visually complementary.
