Coloring Commission - CallMePo - TexanJoe - A Night of Passion

This is the third and last piece of the set that was commissioned to me by TexanJoe.  A wonderfully explicitly erotic piece that involves his characters of Atomic Bombshell/Katie and Andromeda/Andrea.

The artwork here was done by the wonderfully talented @CallMePo.

This one took me a lot longer than I wanted to because of the fact that my “real job” takes up so much of my time during the day.  Plus the fact that I don’t have a working laptop, which I do hope to get soon.  But even if I did, I’m pretty sure that I wouldn’t exactly be allowed to work on artwork like this in the break room or anywhere else in public without incurring the ire of those around me. So, I’m left doing this sort of thing at home.

But, there are trade offs when it comes to doing nudes like this, for one your amount of layers to work with is lowered but at the same time you have to pay attention to a lot of the details, namely how the light will fall onto the surfaces of the skin and how that will interact with the surfaces around it.
By the time it was done I had given it to TexanJoe and it was suggested putting in a little “moisture” on Katie’s part.  So I threw that in along with a “dry” version of the picture.

And really, I do have fun working on coloring these two, and I wouldn’t mind seeing a comic being made of them.  After all, how great work that be?  Atomic Bombshell and Andromeda having their own comic.

BlushMallet - Spider-Gwen and Iron Mary Jane

I admit that ever since I started reading the Spider-Gwen comics, I had this idea in my teeth.  The idea of Gwen Stacy and Mary Jane Watson getting together.  Although, it doesn’t quite look like that happened in the comics but hey, a guy can still imagine.  The notion I had was that the police are still trying to catch Spider-Woman (Gwen Stacy) and so to try to catch her, a new kind of weapon is made; the Iron Spider, a creation of Stark Industries.  And after a series of events, Tony Stark gives the suit to Mary Jane Watson who is then charged with finding and capturing Spider-Woman.  But things, as they often do in comics, become very complicated when Mary Jane finds out that not only is Gwen the Spider-Woman but her feelings for her have deepened far beyond what she expects. 

So, with that in mind, I contacted @blushmallet and asking for something very classic with this pair.  And who can forget the infamous “Spider kiss” in which one is upside down and the other is standing and they meet in a mid-air kiss.  For this, I decided to have it where the roles are reversed and Mary Jane is the one that’s upside down. 

After that, the classic block of the background came up.  So, I decided to use the background that I used for another Iron Spider pic:  BlushMallet - Iron Mary Jane

After using that, I decided to do something else that is classic in the Spider-man comics; throwing in a Spider-heart.  But I also knew that using the original red with black webbing wouldn’t exactly be appropriate since Peter Parker is nowhere to be seen in this.  So, I used the heart and did a different color scheme with it; first I did the Spider-Gwen colors, white, magenta, black and turquoise.  Then I thought, “why not do one for MJ?”  And so I did one for her as well. 

And what’s more when I was typing all this out I was looking over the heart and then something very profound hit me.  With the heart and with all that’s been going on, I decided to do one more heart style.  I decided to use the LGBTQ+ pride flag and inlay it into the heart.  Because, love is love and one should be allowed to love who they wish.

Coloring Commission - CallMePo - TexanJoe - Andrea and Kaite’s Drive Part 01

In this coloring commission from TexanJoe, we have his characters Andrea (Andromeda) and Katie (Neutrino Bombshell) decided to go out for a drive and they came to a very secluded spot in the mountains and Andrea decided to get very frisky.

Unlike the other times where the lines were very crisp and clean, this time it’s more sketchwork that was done by Po, so it made things a little tricky as far as placement of the polygons.  But the bigger challenge was doing the background.  Joe wanted me to do a spot that was secluded and the best I can think of was that they drove out to some far out campsite that has a good view of mountains. 
After that it was a case of coloring the car, which as it turns out was a muscle car, a GTO.  Which I found to be incredibly appropriate:  a muscle car for a very muscular woman.

Coloring Commission - CallMePo - Power Girl and Atlee

Here we have a coloring commission that was given to me by Aidenke.
Technically this is the second one I’ve done for him, but the first one will not be shown at his request.

Payment on the Backside

I realize that the picture that Po has is a little different from this one.  I guess there was a change at some point but it’s still pretty much the same.  After seeing it and Aidenke asking me to essentially color it and put in a background, I was a little overwhelmed because I hadn’t done anything like this before.  Given the position that Power Girl is sitting in I had to fill in the background around her so that she fits into it.  Compared to that coloring Power Girl and Atlee was the easier part of it.  And thankfully Aidenke was patient with me and we kept exchanging messages back and forth to make sure that it was done with the proper justice that he had in mind.

But still, I thank Aidenke for the opportunity to color a lineart like this and present an interesting challenge.  And I certainly hope that in the future I’ll be able to do others since I know there are a series of pictures of these two that he had done with CallMePo.

Coloring Commission - CallMePo - Andromeda and Neutrino Bombshell - Irresistible Part 1

Recently, I had the pleasure of speaking with TexanJoe about a series of coloring commissions and he asked me to color a set of three pictures that involved a pair of characters he created:  Andromeda and Neutrino Bombshell.

For this one, it is the coloring of this picture:   Irresistible Part 01 Lineart

I said I would and after receiving the high resolution versions of the pictures, I went straight to work on them.  It took a little research into his gallery to see about the color scheme of both women, namely the hair color and the color of their outfits.  The one part that was the trickier aspect was that they both had brown hair but in different shades so it took some time to match the shades in comparison to the colored versions in his gallery.  Eventually, I picked a set of colors and thinking that they could be changed pretty easily with just a paintbrush tool and locking the layers in photoshop.

The aspect that was harder was the aspect of this being a “couples picture” essentially two people being very close to each other.  What makes that tricky is how there are the overlapping areas such as one hand on top of another or under another.  So when doing that you have to decide which character’s layer set is going to be underneath whose.  After overcoming that hurdle the rest is easy.

CallMePo - X-men - Out Flirted

This is the colored version of “OutFlirted” by CallMePo that was commissioned to him by Cypher3au

When I had spoke with Cypher3au, I asked him he’d like me to color the Jean Grey/Emma Frost picture, I’d be more than willing to do that. He agreed and sent me the high resolution version of the picture. I knew immediately that the tricky part of this picture would be Jean’s “Flame Wings”. But, I just went about coloring Jean and Emma and left the Flame Wings until the end.

And it was thanks to MissMinority’s FireTutorial that I was able to create the effects that you see here.

CallMePo - Daria - Daria and Jane Snoozing

This is a colored lineart that was drawn by CallMePo and commissioned to him by Cypher3au.

It was the third and final piece in a series of three that Cypher3au had sent to me. Originally I had thought of coloring the bed and such in a similar fashion to the “artistic nudity” picture but then I began looking up some screen caps from the show and saw Daria’s room. So I used that as my pallet and came up with this.

Len Barboza - Winry and Sheska Kissing

This is a commission piece that was done for me by Aquarina-chan and colored by me.

The original line art was a little smaller than this but in the process of coloring it I was having trouble with the coloring.  So I spoke to my friend and artistic adviser Spiritto about this and she asked me to send her the photoshop file and what she did was she created a background that was just incredible.  And following her examples I recreated bits and pieces of the background.  However there was one section that I improved upon it was the reflection upon the floor.  She told me that she was having some difficulty with it so I tinkered with it and I came up with this.  Amazed she asked me how I did.  And I said that I just copied the figures above, flipped it horizontally, lowered the opacity so that it looked like a reflection and the rest was easy.

Of course this was one of the pictures that DeviantArt had deleted so I figured that I should upload it here.

Katara and Toph in Love

This piece is something that I did for Avatar-fan’s Non-Cannon Contest.  The idea behind the contest is to make artwork of non-cannon pairings.

Sorry Zutarian and Kataang fans but those pairings are ruled out as spelled out in the rules of the contest.

As far as the technical aspects of this particular piece, I used some of the commission pieces done for me by DarkDP who did a few for the Avatar series at my request.  Using the skin-tones that he used, I applied them to this piece, which is why the skin-tones of Katara and Toph look a little different (for those of you who have been following my work closely).

For the pose, it was something that I decided to experiment with, so I needed a pose where two people are in a tender moment of intimacy that is non-sexual in anyway.  So, I found a picture from an anime series called “Glamour” and using that pose I set about my task of making it for Toph and Katara.

Also if you look closely you’ll see that Toph is wearing a Watertribe necklace like Katara’s.  This is from an earlier work I did called KaToph Necklace.  Within the pendant itself are the flat lines and coin symbols of the Earth Kingdom, while there are the rolling waves of the Water Tribe.   Put that on a green collar and there you have a necklace that Katara would give to Toph.

As for the time that it took to make this, I think the drawing by hand took about 2 hours, the outlining in Photoshop took about 2 ½, and the final coloring took about 8 hours.   So it was a full 12 ½ hour project.

S2X - Haruka and Michiru - "The Kiss"

This one is another lineart piece that I commissioned of the wonderfully talented S2X and it’s of the Sailor Senshi, Uranus and Neptune, or at they’re also known as Haruka Tenou and Michiru Kaioh.  The idea that I had in mind behind this one when I had approached S2X with the idea came to me from a photograph called “The Kiss” by Tanya Chalkin.

Seeing the picture made me think of Haruka and Michiru and I figured that I’d have S2X do it since he’s very good when it comes to more complicated poses like this one.

From a coloring standpoint, this one was fairly easy since both Haruka and Michiru have the same skin tone.  From there there was the hair and then the bedsheets.  Then again with the way that the photograph was it took in the simplicity of the pose and the background.  So really there was no need to overwhelm the viewer’s eye.
