Hello again, everyone. And here we have the newest page in the "DrGraevling coloring book" series. This one was a job and a half from start to finish. Coloring the princess was the easy part. The real work came in coloring the background since there was the city, the trees, the grass, not to mention the foreground objects. But I'd like to think that I pulled it off. And even added a layer of black with low opacity to give it the sense of being at the edge of a dark forest.

There is a NSFW version, available on my patreon. So if you want to see the good stuff, sorry, there's a fee for that. After all, if you want to see more, I need the funding to keep it all going.

Here I am continuing the DrGraevling coloring book series.

This one was a small breath of fresh air given how it's only two people and a fairly simple background. The only really complicated part of this picture was in the upper left corner which shows off the buildings outside. So I went back to the older pages that I've done that show off the buildings and use those for a pallet reference.

So it seems so far that I'm the only person who has done this many pages from DrGraevling's series. I will keep going and keep on coloring each page. I fully intend to do all the pages.

Here's the newest page that I've colored from DrGraevling's "Coloring Book". The was both easy and hard at the same time. For one the background I essentially imported the background coloring from the previous colored piece. But after that, I needed to not only color the people in clothes but also nude versions and various versions of that.

I know that many of you may not like the idea of me censoring the images here but unfortunately I have to because I'm trying to raise funds to be able to do more coloring artwork. So if you're looking to see more of this, head over to my Patreon.

This page wasn't as hard to color as the others, at least until it came to the background. I knew that with the tavern's construction it was going to basically be wood in every direction. This meant that I needed a lot of variations of wood colors in order to make it look like a tavern.

But of course, my favorite part was doing the different kinds of skin tones. I do so love to have diversity in the work that I do.

This one was probably the hardest one that I've done so far since the detail in the background took so much time.  In total it took over the course of roughly an entire day just to get the buildings done.  But in total it took over 228 layers and 32 groups and the includes the princess clothed and nude.

In terms of logistics, it was one of the trickier ones because of the fact that there are so many people in the image. But I stuck to it and kept going.

It's been a while, everyone, but here's the fifth page in the DrGraevling's Coloring book series.  So far, this is probably the most detailed piece of work that I've done so far.  Not just because there's more than two people in the room but also becuase of the fact that I was trying to set it up so that the light looks convincing.  Such as the princess in the background, I wanted her to look like she was standing in the shadows of the hallway.  

 But in the end, I think it worked out far better than what I had expected.

 To continue in the series of pages from the coloring book by DrGraevling, I have her page 04 where the princess is beseeching her mother for her request and her very busty mother hears her out and is going to help out. 

Just like with the previous page, there's a colored version and a nude version.  The nude version is only available on my Patreon.  So if you want to see that, you're going to have to visit my Patreon page. 

In coloring the clothed version, the biggest challenge was being able to color the queens dress as well as picking out the right skin ton and her hair color.  Since I picked red hair for the princess and brown hair for the father, I knew I needed to pick something similar or comparable to what the princess has.  And so I landed on a lighter shade of orange-red. 

And like before the background was the harder part given how detailed the roof was.  I essentially went in and colored each tile by hand.  Painstaking and time-consuming, yes, but worth it.

To continue in the series of pages from the coloring book by DrGraevling, I have her page 03 where the princess is asking the King permission to leave the castle and explore the world but it falls on deaf ears.  

Initially, when I started on this page, I was under the impression that there was only the clothed version but when I looked closer with the image, I found out that DrGraevling, had created two versions of this.  There's a clothed version that you see here and a nude version.  So, I colored the nude version and colored the clothed version last since all I would need to do is copy the layers from the nude version and color the clothes on top of that. 

However, doing the colors for the clothes was the tough part as far as what I would do for them.  In the end I decided to go with the green that I used for the princess in page one but since her father is the king I decided to use a royal purple for that.

DrGraevling - Coloring Book Page 02 colored

In continuing the coloring book series by DrGraevling, here is the second page.  I knew already when I started this that it was going to be a real challenge.  For one the background and the plants and the bubbles.  Yet, thanks to the encouragement and ideas from my art friend Hooksnfangs, I was able to come up with a few ideas that I think really came together. 

For one, I used a scene from a classic comedy called "Coming to America" with Eddie Murphy which as a prince of an African country, he has a series of bathers.  In that scene I looked around the room at the various colors for it and I decided to use that for this scene here. 

I admit that it is a shame that I'm unable to make a series of time-lapse videos for my channel like I did for a few other works that I've done, but YouTube has guidelines.

DrGraevling - Coloring Book Page 01 colored

 

Among the many line arts that I've come across over at DrGraevling's Patreon page, there was a series of pics called "Coloring Book" in which it chronicles the adventures of an Elvish princess. 

Doing the first page, I knew that I had my work cut out for me given the amount of detail that was put into it.  The biggest points I knew were the flower pots underneath the window.  Compared to that coloring the elvish princess was the easy part.  I already knew that I wanted her to not go the same route as most elvish woman, i.e. blonde hair and blue eyes.  So I went with a deeper skin tone and red hair.  In a way I had a little influence of the Blood Elves from World of Warcraft.

JulyViolet - High Elf Monk

 

A while ago, after doing the Try Guys Dungeons and Dragons art pieces with JulyViolet, I decided that I wanted to do another Dungeons and Dragons character. So, I asked JulyViolet to draw up a High Elf Monk character.

This character is something I'm doing for whatever DnD campaign I get into. The story behind this character is that you have an elf who was born into elf society but didn't want to assimilate into it. He saw Elf society as elitist and pompous. And so, he started to act "not like an elf" and this caused him to be sent to live in a monastery. While living at this monastery, he learned the ways of martial arts, the Way of the Open Palm, but living among the monks he started to indulge in some of very "non-elvish vices", namely heavy drinking and chasing sex. The breaking point of which is when he was caught in bed with the mayor of a local town along with his wife. And so he was expelled from the order and even though he was asked to return home to his family, he defied this and decided to "wander the earth", move from place to place, help people, get into adventures, sample booze and the women. And so this High Elf Monk I created is a mixture of Tyrion Lannister and Iron Fist; he drinks and knows Kung Fu.

When JulyViolet finished this piece, I knew that I had my work cut out for me, and I rose to the challenge of coloring this one. Coloring the face and such, I did wonder if I was doing right as far as the skin tones and the color of the lips. When I got to the robes, I wanted to go with my go-to colors of black, white, and green. But then came the background. At first, I was thinking of doing it in a similar town with what I did with the Try Guys DnD but to be a little more fitting for the character, I decided to have it done in a dojo type of setting.

Something else I wanted to do for the background is that I wanted an art piece in the background in calligraphy, much like what is done in most dojos.  However, since he is a high elf, I wanted there to be something more Elvish. I wanted to have the phrase, "you are already dead" written in Elvish script in there, but I couldn't get that done. So, I went searching for something else. And that's when I came across Vanyanie and this vector piece they did: https://www.deviantart.com/vanyanie/art/One-Ring-Inscription-Circle-Vector-706496705

So I used that and put it into the background.
